I’m Karen Dutkowski.

I was appointed to Mesquite City Council #4 in 2020 by Mayor Allan Litman with an affirmative vote by a majority of City Council members to fill a vacancy.
It is my honor to serve the citizens of Mesquite and I am grateful for this opportunity.
My husband, Greg, and I retired to Mesquite in 2012 and our two adult children live in the Mesquite and Las Vegas areas. We enjoy the majestic beauty of the desert and mountains which surround our city and we appreciate its history and the civic engagement of the people who live here.
Over my 32 year career I have worked in public health and public safety for various government agencies and non-profit health care organizations. These include Veterans Affairs hospitals, Intermountain Health Care, Fresno County, California Emergency Medical Services and Salt Lake City, Utah Fire Department. My expertise includes budget development and analysis, research studies, facilitation of process improvement standards, supervision of employees and projects and information technology. I have a deep understanding of the needs of our first responders and health care professionals, but my skills translate to my other interests such as economic development, beautifying our city, expanding educational opportunities and providing workforce housing.
During the past three years, I have led a local non-partisan advocacy group for voter registration, discussions of local and national issues and strategizing solutions. I support my husband, Greg, in his activities with the local theater company and we volunteer with animal rescue groups by transporting homeless pets to help them get the care and adoption chances they deserve.
I have no conflicts of interest and I am objective in my decision making.
I’d love to hear from you. I can be reached at [email protected].
